Did You Get One of the Four Accidental Collector’s Copies?

Hello, you beautiful law school students.

Since publishing Law School for Visual Learners: Contracts, I discovered something both mildly horrifying as an author and, in retrospect, kind of hilarious:

About four people in the world appear to have received an ultra-rare early printing containing a couple of tiny errors.

Congratulations?

You may have accidentally acquired the Law School for Visual Learners Easter Egg Edition.

Before anyone panics: nothing is catastrophically wrong with the book. You can still study, learn, spot issues, write your essays, and pass your exams with flying colors.

But there are a couple of errors that a brilliant future lawyer like you may absolutely notice—and that I want to make right.

What’s Different About the Ultra-Rare Version?

The affected copies may contain:

1. “Parol Evidence Rule” spelled “Parole Evidence Rule.”

Yes. Parole.

I primarily speak French in my daily life, where parole is an actual word, and somewhere between my French-speaking brain and my law-school brain, an extra e managed to sneak onto the page.

An extremely French typo in an American Contracts book.

Consider it an Easter egg from your French-American author. In fact, it actually helped me in law school to write it this way because the rule is about everything that is "said" outside the contract. Consider that a fun memory trick.

2. “Defenses to Formation” is missing from the Issues Checklist page.

The

material itself is addressed elsewhere, but that section should absolutely appear on the checklist—and in the corrected edition, it does.

If you are already thinking, “Leslie, I would have caught that,” then congratulations: your legal issue-spotting skills are working exactly as intended.

Even Giant Legal Textbooks Have Typos

One thing law school taught me is that even enormous, expensive, professionally published legal textbooks occasionally contain typos, strange citations, missing words, and corrections.

At first, finding them used to annoy me.

Eventually, they became strangely reassuring.

Because behind every book, outline, casebook, opinion, statute, exam, and legal argument are human beings.

And human beings occasionally make mistakes.

Fortunately, this one is neither jurisdictional nor fatal.

So What Do You Do If You Have One?

You have two options, and either way I want to make sure you receive exactly what you paid for.

Option 1: Keep Your Ultra-Rare Easter Egg Edition

Keep it.

Seriously.

There appear to be only a handful of these copies floating around, so yours is now an accidental little piece of Law School for Visual Learners history.

Message me, and I will provide you with the corrected pages so you have the complete and updated material alongside your original copy. Just send me the photos and I'll make it right.

You get to keep the typo.

I get to live with the knowledge that “Parole Evidence” exists somewhere permanently in the universe.

We both move forward.

Option 2: Replace It With the Corrected Edition

If tiny errors make your future-lawyer brain twitch—and believe me, I understand—you can simply order a fresh copy and return the affected copy through Amazon according to Amazon’s return process.

The current printing contains the corrections. You can double check when looking at the desktop version "look inside the book" feature.

Why I’m Telling You

Because this book was created for students who are spending their hard-earned money, limited study time, and enormous mental energy trying to understand Contracts.

You deserve the best version of the book I can possibly give you.

I could quietly correct a typo and hope nobody noticed.

But that isn’t how I want to build Law School for Visual Learners.

If something isn't right, I want to tell you, fix it, and make sure you have what you need.

And if we can turn an embarrassing little publishing mistake into an Easter egg along the way?

Even better.

So, if you happen to own one of the mysterious early copies:

Congratulations. You found the Easter egg.

Keep it as your ultra-rare original—or exchange it for the corrected printing.

Either way, I’ve got you.

Thank you for your patience, your understanding, and especially for trusting my work to be part of your law school journey.

It is genuinely an honor.

One Last True Story

When I went to law school, my professor George gave us a logic packet filled with little errors. It drove me crazy.

Somewhere in the packet, near the end, he wrote something to the effect of:

“Did you spot any spelling or grammar issues? Congratulations—you’ll make a good lawyer.”

I never forgot that.

And for once, I’m giving myself a little grace.

I hope you’ll extend a little of that grace to me, too.
